Sino-India armies meet ahead of parrikar’s China visit

NewsSino-India armies meet ahead of parrikar’s China visit

The Indian Army and their Chinese counterpart held two meetings in Ladakh and discussed many important mutual issues ahead of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s visit to Beijing starting today, 17 April. Parrikar is likely to take up all the matter related to Ladakh and he has been briefed by the Ladakh MP on several issues faced by the locals because of the growing interference by China’s People’s Liberation Army in the Border Development Projects.

The Indian Army, while briefing the media, said that ceremonial border personnel meetings (BPMs) were held in Chushul and Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sectors in the Ladakh region to mark the harvest festival.

The Army commanders of the two countries have agreed to uphold the treaties and agreements signed between India and China to maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC.

Recently, PLA forced the Indian authorities in Leh to stop the work on a water channel near Demchok village of Leh district.

The Union Home Ministry has decided to send a team to the spot in May to look into the objections raised by the PLA on a developmental work for the border village under the Border Area Development Project (BADP).

Earlier, the PLA raised objections in March, following which the Indian Army asked the Leh administration to stop the construction of a road which was being built in Chumar area near LAC.
