FashionShowstoppers that made Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015

The Lakmé Fashion Week had no dearth of familiar faces from the film and fashion fraternity gracing the ramp for both established and new designers. Here are our favourite showstoppers who stood out from the crowd, even days after the fashion week was over, with their inspiring ensembles.

Kareena Kapoor Khan for Gaurav Gupta

Kareena Kapoor Khan played muse for Gaurav Gupta’s “sculpt” collection, inspired from the human form itself, and its relationship to the art of sculpting.  Gupta’s designs used a minimalist ethos and a uniform grayscale that ranged from gray and black to ivory, with hints of red at times. Khan wore a floor length black gown, fitted in places and sheer around her midriff and shoulders, with a regal high ruff over her right shoulder.

Amy Jackson for Anushree Reddy

Reddy opened on day five of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 with her Victorian and Indian fusion fashion titled “The Oasis at Sunset”. Bollywood actor Amy Jackson walked the ramp for her in a champagne, gold and pink lehenga teamed with a heavily embroidered choli and cutwork dupatta. Reddy’s collection is designed for modern bridal and festive wear options.

Malaika Arora Khan for  Arpita Mehta

Arpita Mehta’s “The Golden Hour” collection was aimed at contemporary weddings as well, and made for a sensuous affair at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. Ending the show was the arresting Malaika Arora Khan, who strutted down the ramp in a dull gold off-shoulder choli that had a panelled net trail, and was paired with a fitted slit skirt.Mehta had used raw silk, tabi silk and chiffon in gold, sindoor red, emerald and black to create a stunning collection. Her collection had detailed mirror work and ample embellishments, along with cut Dana embroidery, salli fringes and suede appliqués that made the entire collection stand out. The silhouettes were oomphy, the skirts were flared and fluid and the ensemble was
dramatically styled.

Rana Daggubati for Anushree Reddy

Bahubali star Rana Daggubati was Anushree Reddy’s showstopper, and he appeared ethereal in a black raw silk kurta, double breast waist coat with zardozi embellishments, paired with ivory pants and a matching pocket square.

Shilpa Shetty for Divya Reddy

Divya Reddy’s “Allure” collection was shown at the Jabong Stage during the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. The collection played around with colours, textures, embroidery and was informed from royal traditions of India, using Indian handlooms amply in the ensembles. The collection was completely in a pastel palette with gold highlights to add a regal touch. Divya Reddy brought in a contemporary influence to the clothes by using modern embroideries and hand woven fabrics. Pearls were used to embellish the garments, Hyderabad’s royalty to the viewers. The glamorous Shilpa Shetty stunned in a heavily embroidered yellow blouse and beautiful peach lehenga with a decorated hemline and encrusted yellow dupatta.

Chitrangada Singh for  Tarun  Tahiliani

Tarun Tahiliani’s collection was titled “Easy Glamour” and was presented by Reliance Trends at the fashion week. The ramp was covered with graphics of “India Modern” visuals, the inspiration behind most of Tarun’s designs. Chitrangada Singh, in a black draped gown and velvet cape splashed with gold embellishments, brought an end to his glamorous show. The ramp was done up with a full length
mirror and a rack with clothes as the backdrop. A video featuring model and actor Lisa Haydon modelling Tarun’s collection played as the models walked on the ramp, bringing in an immediacy to it. Tahiliani picked a rich colour palette of yellow, emerald, rust, teal and purple. Velvet hemlines added an allure to body-con saris; 3D floral embellishments added a surreal effect to
