The must-have wedding app for India

AppsThe must-have wedding app for India
We’e headed straight for wedding season, and with it comes a downpour of tasks and responsibilities. The team at Wedding Guru has been busy working out ways in which to make our lives easier this year. Set to be available next month promises all the features that apps offer for weddings, but customised for Indian traditions and rituals.

You start off with providing details of the wedding such as faith, guests, budget, schedule. You can then import contacts from your phone, Facebook and Gmail to send out invites to the selected ones. The app then automatically tracks the RSVPs.

After you have the invites taken care of, the herculean task of getting arrangements done for the big day begin and Wedding Guru is going to be by your side as well. It already has a list of rituals and events involved, including a list of vendors that can help make the process much easier. The vendors have pictures from their previous projects, so that you can be sure of who you’re choosing and what their work is like.

Having tackled the arrangements, you need to make sure that the grandest event is the best you could have thrown while still having money left to spend on the honeymoon. Wedding Guru lets you set a budget and helps figure out where things are getting out of hand to make adjustments.

Besides helping you organise the wedding, the app also helps family and friends picking the perfect gift for you. All the couple has to do is put up pictures of their wishlist, so guests can pick a gift that they’re sure will be liked, instead of being the 17th relative to have bought them a toaster. Of course, once someone picks a gift off your list, it disappears  from the registry so there aren’t any unnecessary multiples here either.

Besides being a great way to sort things out for your wedding, the app also plays the good samaritan by helping you gather photographs from your friends and family when the whole thing is done and dusted. With everyone playing photographer on their phones, the professionals can spend time capturing the bride and groom, while the app lets others upload pictures of other goings-on.

For the guests, the app doesn’t just serve as a great way to share photos and figure out gifts, but also find vital information such as directions to the event. And everyone can be quickly updated on any change in plans or matters of urgency with the app’s messaging feature.
