With the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 just around the corner, India’s best fashion designers are set to take center stage. The five-day festival is scheduled to open on 16 August in Mumbai, and we can be certain that the whole fashion world will be closely following the styles and silhouettes showcased here. These are the top four LFW designers this year, by Taru Bhatia.

Anushree Reddy

Designer Anushree Reddy is not new to Lakme Fashion Week and is known for her trademark bridal wear.  Reddy had also displayed her collection in the last season of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2017 titled “Indian Summer”. Her collection then was breezy and she mainly used fluid fabrics on her outfits. In the last edition, Reddy did not stick to bridal collection but rather showcased outfits that could be worn. This season also we are looking forward to a novel and elegant collection by the designer. Actress Nargis Fakhri will be the showstopper for the designer.

Manish Malhotra

Celebrity fashion designer Manish Malhotra is coming up with bespoke menswear this Lakme Fashion Week. Malhotra will put on display the exclusive lineup of suits and tuxedos. By keeping it traditional and festive at the same time, B-town’s favourite designer has added a palatable twist to his collection. The lineup will consist of evening-wear, club-wear and festive wear for men and cocktail dresses for women, which have been created using varied textiles and textures.

Masaba Gupta

Ace designer Masaba Gupta will be showcasing a lineup of festive wear escalating her Madagascar themed designs at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/festive 2017. Her newest collection is inspired by “focus on mood”. Her collection will be easy, pure and fluid as she has collaborated with the brand Himalayan for her show. Gupta’s collection is inspired by water.

Nachiket Barve

Designer Nachiket Barve will be launching his festive wear lineup at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. The collection will be an extension and diversification of core aesthetics which have relevance and can be used beyond just one occasion. The lineup will consist of innovative separates that can be styled in different ways. The gilded detailing in beadwork, rich hues, embroidery, applique and cutwork can be seen in the line.
