Style with comfort is this season’s fashion mantra

FashionStyle with comfort is this season’s fashion mantra

It can be hard to dress up in this hot and humid weather but the summer can sometimes give you plenty of reasons to dress up in style. Restyle your wardrobe and drive the heat by wearing trendiest outfits this summer. When it comes to styling yourself, there is no dearth of options available in the market that can make you chic and outstanding, even in this putrid, sulking weather.

Sarees, for instance, are always in fashion. Be it summer or winters, sarees play a wonderful role to make women smart and elegant. This summer, printed sarees are quite fashionable, bringing the 80s and 90s look back in the limelight.

Garima Bedi, founder of the brand Satomi, says, “Printed sarees are back. Sarees are light and can be easily carried for cocktails, evening wear and even to offices for a trendy look. We use pure silk crepe, silk georgette, silk satin and silk chiffons fabric for the sarees which is comfortable to carry. Vivid bright colours give way to excitement and optimism, though quiet stability prevails in -this season’s palette. The soothing, calming nature of colours like rose quartz, snorkel blue, peach echo are used in our spring collection and is an appropriate wear for one’s summer collection.”

Like sarees, kurtas too as we all know are always in demand. From short kurtas to long ones, they keep the body at ease and are always in vogue. Kurtas are the most comfortable form of garments.

“The length helps to camouflage bulges at the same time they look trendy and chic. Also, it can be clubbed with various bottoms like churidars, palazzos or even denims to fit in the occasion. We use a lot of cotton and viscose blends. Yellow, pinks and blue are the colours which are in great demand. The designs are contemporary and various looks can be teamed up with tops, jackets, skirts and palazzos,” says Rajesh Jain, Business Head, Rangriti.

The interesting bit is that palazzo pants have in fact pushed higher the demand for these kurtas. In this hot summer, unlike denims, palazzos let your skin breathe as they are airy and comfortable.

(L-R) Saree collection from brand Satomi, Belle Femme by Vanshika Chakravarty & White straight fit palazzo pants from Sakshi K. Relan collection. Sakshi Relan, founder, Sakshi K Relan, says, “They go great with kurtas and and are in great demand when it comes to ethnic styling in this burning weather. Palazzos work best in fabrics like cottons, linens, georgettes, chiffons, prints. Any fabric that gives good volume and fall is ideal for making a palazzo. Colours like neons, pastels and nude shades are very popular in summers now.”

Not to forget, western costumes have dominated the garment market with vivid options from frocks to long dresses to gowns. Long dresses and gowns are a definite summer fashion to follow and these are considered one of the most comfortable outfits to opt for in summers. Frocks and dresses are not only congenial but when teamed up with silhouettes make it more modish.

Vanshika Chakravarty, founder, Belle Femme, says, “Right from shift dresses to a line to straight dress, dresses brings comfort and playfulness to a wardrobe. We are playing a lot with summer cottons, georgettes, laces and linen as these fabrics is best suited for summer with pastel colours as they are soothing. These dresses come in wide array of designs and patterns to suit each body size.”

Agrees Bhavya Singh too from Ekatrra.com: “Long dresses and gowns evoke a style all their own and add drama, flair, and polish to any wardrobe. These unlike trousers don’t stick to legs and hence prevent summer body rashes or irritation. Keeping climate, fashion trends and product in mind our designers mainly prefer using fabric which allows body to breath and look attractive at the same time. Fabrics like cotton, chanderi, linen, georgette, chiffon, silk blend, khadi etc are commonly used.”

Accessorizing in summers is pretty challenging. Minimal make-up and less of accessories on one’s body is preferable. But scarves serve different purposes; one of them being acting as a cover from this scorching heat. It can be carried and looks stylish with kurtas and dresses both.

“Scarves are a fantastic accessory trend and is as functional as it is fashionable. Not only do they protect one from the harsh sun but also add that extra oomph factor to the outfit. Scarves have been a very hot accessory for the past few seasons and this summer it’s still going strong.  Just like outfits vary from one another in fabrics, scarves also come in various textures and materials. Cotton and linen fabric offer you ultimate relaxation, especially in the summer days. Colours having softer shades and pastels are easy to wear in summers,” says, Karan Ahuja, director of Ahujasons.

For many, style and fashion is all about individual interests. Not incorrect to a great extent but gone are the days when men had less options. From stripe t-shirt to printed shirts to long kurtas with famous Nehru jackets, men are now styling themselves smartly.

“A perfect wear for the summer season would be a great white shirt. Get noticed a lot while pairing it just with jeans, paired with brown oxfords and a brown belt. Nehru collar shirts are seriously on trend right now. The great thing is you can pair them up with Western and Indian outfits both. Shirt with conversational prints – the usual prints with incremental tweaks to age old geometries are boring. Embroidery on shirts is being captured by some brands and it’s amazing. They are very masculine, very wearable. Overall, this summer is all about change and experimental,” says, Sidharth Suri, co-founder, Andamen.

The fact that summers make you sweat all the time, wear comfy clothes. And make sure to also not compromise on the style quotient.
