When we hear about fashion shows, flashes of skinny and tall models, designer clothes, high heels and extreme make-up come to mind. But this time around, the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 decided to do things differently by shattering all the cliches of the ramp , says Swati Singh.

Schulen Fernandes

The first day of the Lakme Fashion Week 2016 was geared up, Schulen Fernandes for Wendell Rodricks showcased the trapezoidal geometric shapes which were the defining theme of the collection. The theme was inspired by the ancient time of Egypt. The collections itself is quite different and innovative. Women with grey hair added sparkles to the collection on the ramp.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

The brand ambassador of Lakme, Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was the showstopper once again looked incredible in a beautiful Sabyasachi design for his collection “illuminate”. This was the first time Bollywood diva was seen flaunting her baby bump while walking on the ramp. The would-be mother was emotional.

Emraan Hashmi & son Ayan

Emraan Hashmi with his six years old son Ayan made his debut at Lakme Fashion week. The father-son duo walked the ramp for international clothing brand Diesel at the Hamley’s show. The collection was about the kids clothing. Ayan, the showstopper fascinated the audience with his innocent looks. The energetic kids stole the show with their oh-so-cute attitude on the ramp.

Shilpa Chavan’s design

At the fashion show we also saw plus size models, breaking all the stereotypes of the fashion industry. Designer Shilpa Chavan aka Little Shilpa displayed full-figured male and females models in her show. The collection was meant for every individual looking for fashionable choices irrespective of their shapes or sizes.
