The best thing about Indian culture is its exquisiteness. No matter what the region — north, east, or the Northeast — the ritualsand customs around the country are deeply loved and respected and all Indian weddings are larger than life celebrations, which see brides flaunting their best looks.

Bharti Taneja, veteran beauty and make up expert, founder director of ALPS Beauty Group, talks to Guardian 20 about the new techniques used by a makeup artist for this wedding season. She says, “Airbrush makeup will not only give you glowing resplendent look but also stays for much longer. The look achieved with the help of airbrush make-up stays on for 10 to 20 hours. It doesn’t get absorbed in the skin pores or disappear. There are special cosmetics kits for legs and thighs, which conceal veins and discolorations. Another new technique is silicone makeup: a sculpted silicon base is done with complete face contouring to chisel the face further; eyes are large with rich jet black thick winged liner with false lashes and heavy mascara, white kohl is used to open up the eyes furthermore, lips are bold in diva red making this look complete.”

Pre-wedding preparations are a must for the would-be-brides to get that look which she can flaunt on her wedding day. But the question is, what should be the best measures to take? Well don’t worry because here are a few expert tips from the make-up artist VidyaTikari to get the best look on your D-day. She says, “Pamper your skin and body. You can spruce yourself up but remember to look like yourself for the run up to the big day, take all the care but at the same time, don’t overdo it.”

She further says, “Do up your eyes or your mouth. The basic rule stays the same; if you are focusing on the eyes keep the lips subtle and vice versa; playing up both can end up looking very garish. Keep your waterproof mascara handy, always, as you know you would end up teary eyed at some point! Makeup with a professional is a good idea–ensure a dry run with your makeup artist before the big day. Primer is a must and for those with oily skin. Carry heaps of blotting paper. Also avoid junk food, eat healthy and get enough sleep.”

Even the makeup industry is coming up with new innovations. With changing trends in the glamorous world, make up trends are also changing.

Gunjan Gaur, Makeup Expert and Executive Director of ALPS Beauty Group informs how to get beautiful Indian bridal looks as per the new trends of this season, which will inspire you to start prepping for your dream wedding. She says, “The colours definitely play a role in makeup too depending upon the skin tone and the dress that the brides wear on her D-day. Keeping trend in mind, this season it is preferable that you wear a vibrant look and use colors like light mint, pink, mauve, ice blue which are sure to give you a classy look to the bride. The base should be kept natural and you must choose light foundation. But before this make sure to cover your spots using a concealer for a flawless tone of makeup. “

“For eyes makeup, it is better to be on the subtler side. However, pastel shades are being used as eye shadows. It is further adorned with various geometric and graphic liners in contrasting hues like; beige, cooper, and grey. Bronze is considered to be on the top of the makeup game. The brides can go for dark hues of lip like wine, oxblood, marsala and plum,” she adds.

Another aspect which instills fear in brides is the kind of makeup that need to go with skin tone. On this, celebrity makeup artist SimranKaur shares her expertise saying, “If you have fair skin tone, first of all, switch your foundation a couple of months prior to your big day, so that your skin gets used to that base. Secondly, you can emphasize more on mascara and can have more fresh pink lips. You can even go for winged eyeliner and brighten the colour of your lips.”

“For a dusky or a dark skin tone, try having soft gold lids, or neutral pink lips.

Opt for that shade of base or foundation that suits your skin tone well. Don’t opt for a fairer shade as this will look like a miss-match between your face and the rest of the body. Don’t forget to set your entire look with a loose powder or compact. Special attention should be paid to blending to make your face look flawless. You can even go for dark smokey eyes and peachy nude lips. To let your face and makeup do the talking, use a tinted moisturizer under your foundation. This will give a certain sheen to your skin. Finish off your base with loose powder. Apply this with a brush to avoid a cakey look,” she adds.
