A white rectangular body with a golden metal rim running along the sides and a protruding camera with the outline of the same golden colour gives the phone a clean and elegant look. The screen comes with a pre-installed screen guard ready to be used out of the box. Despite the 5-inch screen, the phone is compact enough for one-handed use. The elegance of the build is soon washed away with the unlocking swipe that reveals the iBall logo as the app drawer icon. The icons are surrounded by rounded boxes following an unpleasant colour scheme.
I you manage to deal with these eyesores, the phone becomes a compelling device for its price. The phone sports a 1 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM that pair up well enough for a fast performance. The Android 5.1 and pre-installed apps (most of which you’re unlikely to use) leave just over 10 GB of space free for the user. The notifications and settings remain close to what stock Android experiences offer. You can assign gestures to wake the phone into an app just by drawing alphabets on the locked screen.  The
13 MP camera on the back fails to capture detail but the 8 MP front camera does well in good lighting.
The Solus 4G is a decent phone which could have been an attractive option if it came with stock Android UI. But considering it doesn’t, there are better phone available for a much lower price.
