OKWU, one of the fastest growing mobile technology companies in India, unveiled its niche line of “smarter” phones — called, Pi — along with an accessory, namely U-Tag. OKWU smartphones are designed for the tech-savvy generation and promote a smarter automated way of living with amazing features and affordable prices.

The OKWU module is built on four pillars — connected software, serviceability, budget price and competitive hardware.

The OKWU startup, a brainchild of CEO Anshuman Atul, was conceptualised with a sole motive to help Indian audiences “upgrade from a smartphone to a smarter phone”. OKWU smartphones have high-performance  hardware that will run on android platform.

The USP of this smartphone is that it drives on innovative technology and is one of the pioneer brands to augment IoT (Internet of Things) technology in mobile phones. With applications to support various IoT accessories like U-tag, U-Cars, U-plugs and U-chips that the company plans to roll out in different stages in the first operating year. One of the key differentiating factors that set them apart from other phone brands is their pioneer tool “U-Arena”, OKWU’s solo invention which cannot be found on other hosting platforms.

Anshuman Atul, CEO and Managing Director, OKWU spoke to Guardian 20 and commented on the price range saying, “With the initial brand coming in it is a lot easier to pitch forward for products in the low price segment. Yes, the price tag is important but value for money is also important so if you get something in Rs 9,000 phone which you are getting in Rs 6,000 phone, I think you should go for it.”

He further added, “I don’t expect a 40k consumer going for 6k phone, for that we will have future products coming in different price differences.”

The smartphone Pi features chipset MediaTek 6735, Non Removable 2000 mAh battery, RAM upto 1 GB and ROM upto 8 GB which is expandable upto 32 GB, finger print sensor which detects upto 10 fingers making it one of the very few smartphones in this category offering fingerprint scanner.

The smarter phone also comes with screen resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. Another feature is the dual rear camera — 8 MP + 2 MP with PDAF and 2 MP front camera with PDAF and “smile to click” feature. This is the first Indian smartphone with dual rear camera and the first such under the 10k price range. The Pi smartphone also comes with Quad Core, 1.2 GHz processor and Dual Sim which supports 4G with VoLTE support.
