‘AFSPA’ will stay’

News‘AFSPA' will stay’

The army has said that it is not the appropriate time to revoke AFSPA as hundreds of militants are still active and looking for an opportunity to infiltrate into the state ahead of winters.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps, Lt. Gen. Satish Dua said the army’s presence was necessary to maintain law and order in the state. “If there is demilitarization, the space would be re-occupied by anti-peace people,” Lt. Gen. Dua said, while speaking at a function to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war. Lt. Gen. Dua said that there are intelligence inputs that over 300 militants are waiting in 23 launch pads across LoC to infiltrate before the onset of winters.
