Minors raped in New Delhi

NewsMinors raped in New Delhi

Two minors were sexually assaulted in two separate incidents in the capital in the past two days. In the first incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was raped in Nihal Vihar area of West Delhi on Friday. In another incident, a five-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men in East Delhi’s Anand Vihar area. All three were later arrested by the police. The two-and-a-half-year-old girl was kidnapped and allegedly gangraped by two bike-borne men who picked her up Friday night from outside her home in Nihal Vihar. The girl was later found by locals in a park and was profusely bleeding. She was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, police said, adding a case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused. In the other incident, three men, allegedly under the influence of intoxicants, gangraped a 5-year-old girl Friday evening in Anand Vihar. The severely injured victim was rushed to the GTB Hospital. The accused Prakash, Rewati and Sitaram were caught by the locals after they heard the girl’s cries for help. They were thrashed and later handed over to police. A case has been registered against them at Anand Vihar Police Station. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed concern over the repeated rape incidents. Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta termed the incidents as unfortunate and said there should not be politics over them. Gupta  said the Delhi government has not installed CCTVs for women’s security. “Security guards have not yet been appointed for buses. The government had said that 10,000 home guards would be deployed at public places and in buses but no action has been taken till date,” he added.
