Jammu and Kashmir police has solved the murder case of two infants by arresting the injured mother, who, police said, is the killer. She killed her children “to teach her husband a lesson” for having an extra-marital liaison. According to the police, they were shocked by the confession of Ruqia Banoo, who said she had killed her son and daughter to teach her husband Tariq Ahmad Wagay a lesson for a lifetime. She confessed to the police that she had planned to kill herself also. She said that her husband was madly in love with a girl in the neighbourhood.
Police said when they had earlier found the mother with slit throat at the site of the murder, they thought there had been an attempt to murder her as well. The killing of the two infants had triggered massive protests in the area. The police then constituted a special investigation team (SIT) and the SSP of Anantnag Abdul Jabbar assured the protesters of a time-bound probe to catch the culprit. The incident has spread shock waves in Larnoo village of Kokernag in south Kashmir.
