Policewoman alleges misbehaviour by public

NewsPolicewoman alleges misbehaviour by public
A woman head constable has levelled charges of harassment against two men who had come to file a report in a police station. What makes the case unique is that it is usually the public which files complaints of misbehaviour against the police.
Rekha, a woman head constable deputed at the North Rohini police station, has filed an FIR against a father and son duo, alleging them of harassment in the police station. However, the duo has denied the allegations and filed a complaint with the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) for allegedly getting implicated in a “false case” by the police officials of the North Rohini police station.
“In July last year, I had gone to register a case against a con who had robbed me of Rs 3 lakh in the name of providing a job at an MNC. But the SHO of the police station, Praveen Kumar, told me that he won’t register my complaint and threatened to lock me and my father in a cell if we didn’t take back another case that we were fighting against the SHO of Keshavpuram,” Sandeep alleged.
Sandeep owned a factory on Lawrence Road that he wanted to shift to Bawana, but the SHO of the area (Keshavpuram)was allegedly asking for Rs 1 lakh to do so. The officer was then stuck in a legal battle after the duo complained. “When I told Praveen Kumar I won’t (take back the complaint), other police officials started beating me and my father,” Sandeep alleged. Sandeep has now shifted his factory to Budh Vihar.
“Before they started beating us, constable Joginder at the North Rohini police station snatched my mobile phone and formatted it to delete all the evidence I had against SHO R.S. Mann and SI Sandeep of Keshavpuram police station. The woman head constable Rekha was the first person I and my father had interacted with when we had gone to file our complaint in the North Rohini PS. She told us to wait for the investigating officer. When we finally managed to meet SHO Parveen Kumar, he threatened us and beat us up. In order to restrain us, they implicated me and my old father in a false harassment case and kept us in the cell overnight. The next morning we were sent to Tihar Jail and were released only after a week,” said Sandeep.
Sandeep alleged that SHO Praveen Kumar has a harassment case filed against him by a woman.
Rekha, the woman head constable, said, “I have been working in the Delhi police for the past 20 years and I had to face a lot of challenges as a woman. But this was absolutely outrageous. I was harassed by Sandeep and his father, who unnecessarily wanted to create a scene in the police station and was being disrespectful to the police. It won’t be right to say more since the case is still being investigated.”
