Unlike the Samajwadi Party which makes every move in the headlines, the BSP supremo has been quietly doing her own outreach away from the media glare. During the last month, she has held off-the-record sessions with various editors from both the print and television media to get their feedback. And she is not mincing any words either. When invited by an editor to address that media house’s conclave in the capital, she is said to have shot back, saying: “You never show any of my speeches, or give me any coverage — so why should I do this?” Clearly, this is one leader who calls it as she sees it.

The Ratings War

The reader’s poll in Time magazine recently announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “Man of the Year”. Interestingly, when the Opposition was shouting slogans against the PM in the House, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar was heard retorting “Our PM has just been declared Man of the Year, He doesn’t need your approval!” Well, that’s one for the ratings.
