A thrilling selfie contest was held in Delhi earlier this week, with the Roland Garros French Open trophy put on display at the DLF Promenade mall and former tennis star Marion Bartoli in attendance.

Roland-Garros is known for its huge fan following. Some 463,328 spectators flocked to the highly prestigious French Open in 2015, and the tournament was also broadcast in 224 territories across the world, making it an event of truly global significance. Roland-Garros is run by the French Tennis Federation and held every year at the Porte d’Auteuil in Paris. It is the only Grand Slam to be played on clay ­— one of the oldest and most noble surfaces in the history of tennis.

 The French connection with New Delhi got stronger with the unveiling of the sparkling Roland Garros French Open Trophies as they made their first pit spot in India for the first time. Marian Bartoli, Brand ambassador of Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros with Ms. Dinaz Madhukar, Sr. Vice President & Mall Head DLF Promenade unveiled the shining trophies to tennis fans kick starting the selfie contest together.

Marion Bartoli is in India for the first time promoting young talent and grass-roots clay-court tennis, as the ambassador for Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros and will be travelling across the country for the same.
