The year 2017 has already seen much activity and big launches in the smartphone market. In India, the Chinese firms have dominated the market in the first half of the year, which is nothing unusual. But besides that, some of the old players, like Nokia and Samsung, have also managed to stage a return, with promising new smartphone models. Going by the look of things, the biggest releases of the year might already be out in the market. And yet, there’s no telling if some phone manufacturer hasn’t still got an ace up their sleeve, biding their time for an exclusive winter launch. While we wait for that, here’s a look at some of this year’s phones that were a hit with the users.

NOKIA 8

Nokia 8 is a dual camera phone which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The handset supports 5.7-inch qHD IPS LCD Multi touch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels at a pixel density of 515 pixels per inch. The display screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Scratch Resistant display. The device comes with 6 GB of RAM and 64 and 128 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The device runs on Android 7.0 OS and supports connectivity options—GPS, HotSpot, NFC, Wifi, Bluetooth.  On the camera front, the rear camera is a 24 MP shooter with Auto Focus, Face Detection, HDR, Panorama Mode, Geo-tagging, Touch Focus, Digital Zoom, Video Recording and the Front selfie camera is capable of shooting 12 MP selfies. Nokia 8 is priced at Rs 33,990.

HTC U 11

HTC U 11 features 5.5 inch Quad HD display resolution with 565ppi pixel density and supports Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device runs on Android v7.1 Nougat operating system with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB of RAM. It also comes with a new feature “Edge Sense’”that allowed users to perform functions by swiping or tapping the edge. On the camera front, the handset supports 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera and 16-megapixel Selfie camera. It also comes with features IP57 Water Resistant, HTC BoomSound, Fingerprint Scanner, WiFi, 4G, LTE and NFC. HTC U 11 is priced at Rs 40,000 approximately.

MOTO G5

Moto G5 features 5-inch full HD display and stereo sound. The handset features 2GB RAM with 16GB storage variant. G5 runs on 2GHz Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core Snapdragon 430 processor. Moto G is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat. The device comes in 2GB or 3GB RAM variants and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable, via microSD, up to 128GB. The Moto G5 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-LED flash, while the front gets a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera. G5 also features new Google assistant through which user can make calls, navigate, send messages, and manage other tasks just by pressing the Home button. The new G series flagship phone also comes with a removable battery despite the metal body. Moto G5 is priced at Rs 11,990.

LG G6

The Water and dust resistant LG G6 packs with a big smooth screen with 5.7” inch display that comfortably fits in hand. It also features Dolby Vision which transforms viewing experience into dramatic colour, contrast and brightness. The device runs on Android v7.0 Nougat operating system with 2.35GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory expandable up to 2TB and dual SIM with dual-standby. It also sports wide angle front camera which automatically takes picture when a face is in frame. It supports dual 13 megapixel rear cameras with 125° wide-angle lens that allows you to capture photos and videos with a wider point of view especially  for inclusive scenic shots. LG G6 is priced at Rs 55,000.

NOKIA 5

Nokia 5 sports Seamless aluminium unibody curved design with 5.2” inch polarized HD display with sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass. The handset is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and it comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. Nokia 5 runs on Android 7.1.1 and gives several connectivity options which include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G. On the camera front, the handset supports 13 megapixel autofocus scene detection camera with dual-tone flash and 8 megapixel wide angle front camera for selfies. Nokia 5 is priced at Rs 12,899.
