Now for 2018, the big race resumes, with competing smartphone manufacturers all but ready with their opening gambits of the year. The new phones slated for a January release are powerhouses fueled by cutting-edge technology, ranging from Artificial Intelligence to virtual reality. Top brands like Samsung, LG and OnePlus are the ones to watch out for this month, and these are the devices that are soon to hit the shelves with a bang. 


Samsung recently launched Galaxy A8+ which is a  legacy of Samsung’s A series smartphones with its stylish design and flagship features. Galaxy A8+ is performance powerhouses with 6GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and expandable memory of up to 256 GB. It features Samsung’s first Dual Front Camera, a large Infinity Display and stunning ergonomic design that draws on Samsung’s flagship design heritage and experience. Galaxy A8+’s large screen is supported with ergonomic curved glass on the back and front. Its sleek glass and metal frame, smooth curves and comfortable grip make it even easier to watch or interact with content on phone. Galaxy’s A8+’s 16MP+8MP F1.9 Dual Front Camera allows consumers to take the type of selfie they want – from close-ups with the background blurred to portrait shots with a clear and crisp background. With the advanced Live Focus feature, one can easily adjust the bokeh effect before or after take the picture to create high-quality images. Galaxy A8+ comes with the Always On Display, allowing users to get information at a glance without unlocking their phone. It is also the first in the A series to support Samsung’s Gear VR. Samsung Galaxy A8+ is priced at Rs 32,990 and will be available to buy from January 20, 2018.

The 16 megapixel RGB color lens and 20 megapixel monochrome lens of Honor View 10 camera bring exceptional contrast and detail to photos. The RGB color lens makes colors more vivid while the monochrome lens understands and records the contrast. Honor View 10 is priced at Rs 29,999.



OnePlus 5T Lava Red variant was launched in China last year in November. The handset comes in 8GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. The handset comes with 20MP+16MP primary dual camera and 16MP front facing camera. The dual camera system uses two sensors to put the focus on the face you’re capturing while blurring the background for a gentle, yet powerful effect.The device sports 6.01inch capacitive touchscreen FHD Full Optic AMOLED 18:9 display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution along with cover glass 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa core processor. It also comes with fast fingerprint sensor, which unlocks the OnePlus 5T in under 0.2 seconds. OnePlus 5T Lava Red also supports seamless aluminum unibody of the OnePlus 5T is both functionally and visually slim, creating a phone that is not only comfortable to hold but exceedingly durable. OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs 37,999 and will be available from January 20, 2018 onwards.


Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro provides an immersive experience with a 5” inch HD Super AMOLED screen. Measuring just 8.4 mm, the Galaxy J2 Pro is a sleek device which is further complemented by soft rounded edges that ensures a comfortable grip. Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro is powered by 1.5 GHz Quad Core processor and has 1.5GB RAM for smoother and seamless multitasking. Galaxy J2 Pro supports 16GB which is expandable via a microSD card. The Galaxy J2 Pro has a battery capacity of 2,600 mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro sports a camera that captures high quality, crisp and detailed photographs with its 8 mega-pixel rear camera. It also features a 5 mega-pixel front camera to provide great video calling and selfie experience. Both cameras sport an f 2.2 aperture. Samsung J2 Pro is priced at Rs 9,900 and is already available in the market.
