A new year is upon us. And we are already excited in anticipation of what 2017 might have in store for us gadget fanatics. The hope is that this won’t be as laid-back a year as the previous one in terms of new releases. Last year, even the launch of the new iPhone didn’t impress many. Samsung’s Note 7 fiasco was a new low for the world of technology. Microsoft’s Surface line failed to create much noise. And the gaming sector was resting on the laurels of past successes. But this doesn’t mean we don’t have anything to look forward to. Here’s what will make 2017 The Year of the Gadget.

NINTENDO SWITCH

Nintendo Switch is coming out in March 2017. NX console is a hybrid device, which means it is a home console and a handheld device at the same time. Nvidia had claimed that the processor inside the console will be based on the Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset. Nintendo Switch will also be powered by 256-core Maxwell graphics processing and an octa-core processor. The gaming console will be capable of 4K Ultra HD video playback and it will also come with HDMI 4.1 output. The graphic power of the console will be amplified by more than double once the switch is docked. Nintendo Switch will be priced at Rs 23,000 approximately.

iPHONE 8

iPhone 8 will come with a new design and looks. iPhone 8 will have a glass body and edge-to-edge OLED display that will include an integrated Touch ID fingerprint sensor and front-facing camera. iPhone 8 will also come with a faster 10- nanometer A11 processor. Apple also confirmed that iPhone 8 will have no Home Button and will have wireless charging. Apple iPhone 8 may have 5.5 inch or larger display screen. iPhone may also feature edges that are curved on both sides. iPhone will come with Fast Charging, 5G Technology, Finger Print Scanner and Retina Eye Scanner. iPhone 8 is expected to release in September 2017.  iPhone 8 is expected to be priced between Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.

MICROSOFT SURFACE PRO 5

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be a hybrid laptop that will come with 512 GB storage. Microsoft’s hybrid laptop will feature a 4K display and Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors. Surface Pro 5 will come with a screen with a kickstand, a keyboard base, and a Surface Pen stylus. The laptop is also expected to feature Intel’s full-fat Core i7 processors. Surface Pro 5 will feature 2,736 x 1,824 pixel IPS LCD panel with a pixel density of 267ppi. It is also highly likely that Microsoft will add a USB-C port to its Surface Pro 5. Surface Pro 5 is expected to release in spring 2017. Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be priced at Rs 60,000 approximately.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S8

Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a 4K display, an Edge-style screen, and an improved camera. Samsung may also get rid of its Home button and will feature Natural ID FS9100 optical fingerprint sensor. Galaxy S8 will come with 5.5 ultra-high definition 4K displays with a pixel density of 806ppi for virtual reality devices. Samsung will also feature edge displays in 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch variants. Samsung Galaxy S8 may also be powered with Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 and may also feature Snapdragon X16 built-in. Device is expected to feature 6GB of RAM, as well as 256GB of storage as standard. Galaxy S8 is expected to release in March 2017. Samsung Galaxy 8 is expected to be priced at Rs 40,000 approximately.

GOOGLE PIXEL 3 LAPTOP

Google Pixel 3 Laptop may come with 12.3’ inch display with touch support which could double up as a tablet. Pixel 3 might be a 2-in-1 laptop/detachable tablet hybrid or a laptop with a flexible hinge remains to be seen. Google Pixel 3 will be powered with Intel i5 Core processor 32 GB or 128 GB of internal storage along with RAM either to be 8 GB or 16 GB. Google pixel is also expected to feature fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm jack, stylus support, two USB-C ports, backlit keyboard and a glass track pad with force detection sensing. Google Pixel is expected to release by end of 2017. Google Pixel 3 laptop is expected to be priced at Rs 55,000 approximately.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with to come with a 5.7in Quad-HD or 4K Super AMOLED display. Note 8 is likely to be waterproof, and feature dual cameras and a high-capacity battery with adaptive fast charging, fast wireless charging and USB-C support. It will run Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung Note 8 will also feature heart-rate scanner, fingerprint scanner and iris scanner. The device is expected to come with a revamped S-Pen stylus. Note 8 will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 or next-gen Exynos processor with the ARM Mali-G71 GPU and 6GB of RAM. Galaxy Note 8 will come with a dual-lens camera and higher-resolution 4K screen. Note 8 is expected to release in August 2017. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be priced at Rs 37,000.

MICROSOFT SURFACE PHONE

Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in three distinct variants – Consumer Edition, Business Edition, and Enthusiast Edition. Surface phone will feature Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 835 chipset. The design of the phone will be made of all metal and will be come with 5.7 inch display screen. Microsoft Surface Phone will run on Windows 10. Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to release by the end of 2017. Surface Phone is expected to be priced at Rs 45,000 approximately.
