I was heavily struck by the notion of loss — like the loss of lives, culture and wealth. The more I understood the irreversible loss the more I understood the struggle deeper. The Arabs, Portuguese, French, Dutch and British had battled it out for territorial upper hand in their desired lands in India and that ended with 200 years of British rule.
These black-and-white paintings, mostly oil on canvas, capture the moments which is often missed by photographers before and after the frame he or she captures. A consistent loss of moments between frames occurs in both photography and films. My paintings are intended to rewrite the archival negatives and they are there to compensate for.
