Photos & Text: Vadehra Art Gallery & William Dalrymple
This collection of black and white photographs was shot over two years by the writer and historian, William Dalrymple. The images bring elegance, inquiry and grace to the photographic form. Powerful and precise, the pictures are now compiled in a photo book, called The Writer’s Eye, and are documents of landscape conveying potent solitude and brooding strokes. The author of acclaimed books like The Last Mughal, In Xanadu, City of Djinns, Return of a King and others, returns to a visual medium he first worked with in his collegiate days, armed now with over two decades of writerly composure and brilliance.
Curated by bestselling writer and Sensorium Festival co-founder, Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi, The Writer’s Eye was exhibited at Sunaparanta: Goa Centre for the Arts in March 2016; is now being exhibited at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi; and will move to Grosvenor Gallery, London in June 2016.
This exhibition is accompanied by a limited edition book published by HarperCollins India.
The exhibition is on till 20 May at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi
