Standing Conference of Public Enterprises in association with the World Bank organized a two day program on the “Best Practices in Procurement” today.

In his welcome address, Dr. U. D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE acknowledged the role of digitalization in Procurement processes which has reduced the human discretion. He added that majority of the Public Sector Enterprises have adopted e-tendering, e-procurement and reverse auctioning to reduce corruption.

Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, MMTC while inaugurating the program mentioned that PSEs are not owners but custodians of public money and therefore, there is a need to improve procurement process. He further added that companies need to change their focus from just marketing to improving their procurement processes to achieve better margin and profit.

Mr. Sanker Lal, Lead Procurement Specialist, the World Bank and Prof. Samir K. Srivastava from Deptt. Of Operations Management, IIM, Lucknow also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Lal assured the continued cooperation of the World Bank for similar programs by SCOPE in future. Large many senior executives from Public Sector were present on the occasion.
