To strengthening relations between Russia and India, the production company Cinemarus in cooperation with Russkoe Kino (a television channel broadcasting Russian language movies)and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Russian National Fund of Copyright Holders’ Support, the Filmmakers Union of the Russian Federation and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India, Directorate of Film Festivals, are all set to present the third international film festival “Russian Film Days” in India.
This year the event expanded its borders and will be held in three major cities—Delhi, Mumbai and Panjim (Goa). In the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India, the film festival “Russian Film Days” will be a particularly significant event. The opening ceremony, which will take place on 10 November in the famous Sirifort complex in Delhi, that will be attended by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, Russian Ambassador to India Nikolai Kudashev and leading representatives of Russian and Indian cinema. The opening film will be Bolshoi, which will be presented by the film director Valery Todorovsky.
The opening ceremony of the “Russian Film Days” in India will begin with a theatrical performance dedicated to Raj Kapoor and the legendary film of the 1970 year My name is Joker which was successfully performed in the USSR, exactly 45 years ago. Special guests for the evening will include Randhir Kapoor and Kseniya Ryabinkina, a former ballerina who was a part of the play. On 11 and 12 November the Delhi audience can catch the screening of Kitchen Final Battle, the comedy Jana+Janko, the world premiere of the directorial debut of composer Alexey Rybnikov The Ghost of Sonora, the fantasy blockbuster Attraction, the premiere of Life ahead by Karen Oganesyan among others at DT Cinema Saket.
The movie marathon that will Mumbai will screen the films that were not only presented in Delhi, but will also include the animated film Fantastic journey to Oz, the cosmic drama Spacewalkers and the Historical drama Anna Karenina. Vronsiy’s story.

“Russian Film Days” in India will also showcase present projects by Valery Todorovsky, Alexei Rybnikov, Olesya Sudzilovskaya, Egor Koreshkov, Inga Oboldina, Anfisa Chernyh and other Russian cinema stars.
“Russian Film Days” in India focusses on the development of new connections with the creative and economic elite of the country, strengthening of cooperation in the film industry, and also the expansion of cultural interchange.
The first forum “Russian Film Days”, held in 2015, was noted in the joint statement of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
In 2016 the “Russian Film Days” in India saw high footfall and was attended by more than six thousand people.
Considering the successful experience of the past years, the scale of the third festival is expected to be much wider.
