Celebrity designer Tarun Tahiliani, in association with DLF Emporio, presented his latest Spring Summer collection with Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur as his showstoppers last week in New Delhi.
Tarun Tahiliani’s stellar new collection comprises clothes that transform into a breathtaking aria of fantasy and romance. Combining wispy delicacy with dramatic flair, the imaginatively avant-garde designer has fashioned a lovingly handcrafted collection. Inspired by the nomadic beauty of the Kutch desert tribes, the collection is a bohemian rhapsody of sorts. “I have always been inspired by the way the people of this region wrap themselves in big blankets, and this collection is my take on that,” says Tahiliani.
On DLF Emporio’s association with Tarun Tahiliani, Dinaz Madhukar, Senior Vice President, DLF Emporio says, “Tarun Tahiliani is an undisputed pioneer in India’s fashion industry and that makes him the perfect partner for DLF Emporio which holds the distinction of being India’s first and finest luxury destination. Tarun’s creative oeuvre truly exists in a class of its own and we are excited to continue our association for the 7thyear in a row.”
“At Emporio, we house our flagship store and now we are looking to expand into a larger footprint. It is the undoubted, luxury destination Mecca in India with an amazing mix of brands that define luxury worldwide,” says Tahiliani.
“This season, we have conceptualised and developed the light-weight crinkle fabric, which falls like a dream and doesn’t crush. It is summer appropriate, vibrant and can be styled to be very dressy.”
The atelier played with a luminous choice of colours which include re-imagined renditions of cobalt blue, ravishing red, marshmallow pink and sunny yellow. The palette gradually shifts to subtle pastels of white and ivory before exploding into a dramatic easel that celebrates the onset of spring. A clever mix of couture and craftsmanship is visible through the use of innovative fuss-free fabric with inventive embellishments, digital prints and sensual draping. “This season, we have conceptualised and developed the light-weight crinkle fabric, which falls like a dream and doesn’t crush. It is summer appropriate, vibrant and can be styled to be very dressy,” said Tahiliani.
Showstopper Katrina Kaif walked the ramp wearing pearl white saree gown with Aditya Roy Kapoor in white sherwani. About the collection, she says, “Tarun is the first designer I worked with closely. We share a great relationship which goes back to the time when I was his campaign girl. He is very special. It feels very nice to be here on the ramp today and back with Tarun. It has been many years and we have lots of fond memories. What I like about him is that he not only makes beautiful designs but also gives too much detailing which is really appreciating.”
The collection saw many elegant designs with bohemian look and ethnic mixture which are exclusively for the summers. The colour palette was dominated by shades like magenta, pink, orange, red, beige, white and black.
