New Hyundai Verna

In one of the biggest launches of the year, Korean car maker Hyundai launched the brand new 5th Generation the Verna in India. Hyundai is calling the new Verna “Intelligent by Design”, and says it is developed on four strong pillars: futuristic design, dynamic performance, super safety and new technolog and advanced features.

The front of the car is defined by the company’s signature chrome cascade grille with horizontal chrome slats and chrome surround. The car also gets swept back projector headlamps with LED DRLs and projector fog lamps again with chrome surround. The rear bumper is dual tone while the split type LED tail lamps truly stand out. In terms of looks the car reminds a lot of the Hyundai flagships sedan in India, the Elantra.

Features list is high as you would expect from a Hyundai car. Some are segment first such as front ventilated seats and a smart trunk. And to take eon the Honda city, there’s a sunroof as well. The car also features an advanced infotainment system which has navigation and a rear view camera. It is equipped with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Mirror Link. The car gets a boot space of 480 liters.

Since the new Verna is built on new the K2 platform similar to Hyundai’s global bestseller Elantra, Hyundai is promising a whole new level of ride comfort with smooth & precise handling, exceptional interior quietness and enhanced safety. The car has been launched in both petrol & diesel engine options and both have manual and automatic variants. While the 1.6 liter petrol gives a maximum power of 123 PS the 1.6 diesel is slightly more powerful at 128 PS. While the former gives a mileage of 17.7 kmpl the diesel is more economical at 24.75 kmpl.

Key safety features on the new Verna include 6 airbags, isofix (child restraint system), impact sensing auto door unlock and cornering lamps. The new Verna will be offered with three years unlimited kilometers warranty along with three years road side assistance and three times map updation. Prices for the new Verna start at Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-Delhi) and go up to Rs. 12.62 lakh for the top diesel variant. These prices are introductory for first 20,000 cars after which they will go up.

Mercedes AMG GT R & AMG GT Roadster

India’s leading luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has strengthened its position in the performance car segment by launching two of the most fascinating sports cars available globally. The AMG GT R—and its topless cousin, the AMG GT Roadster were launched earlier this week.

The Roadster runs on a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that gives a maximum power of 476 hp and a maximum torque of 630 Nm. The car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just four seconds and it achieves a top speed of 302 km/h. The GT R on the other hand runs on the same engine but a gives a lot more power at 585 hp with a maximum torque of 700 Nm. The speed of 100 km/h is achieved in just 3.6 seconds while top speed is an astounding 318 km/h.

Key highlights on GTR include the panamericana grille, AMG traction control, AMG ride control sports suspension, a speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission and light weight AMG performance 10-twin-spoke forged wheels.

On the AMG GT Roadster key features include AMG ride control, sports suspension, airscarf, draught stop, sporty red seat belts and AMG performance steering wheel in black dinamica microfiber with top-stitching. To take personalisation to the next level, both these beauties are completely customisable under the Mercedes designo platform. It offers a host of individualisation options to choose from including exclusive paint finishes, high quality interior appointments and a variety of trims.

While the prices for the GT Roadster start at 2.19 crore rupees ex-showroom, the GT-R will cost 4 lakh rupees more than the roadster. The German car maker is offering a comprehensive cost of ownership package both these cars where the buyer will have to shell out an extra 92,000 rupees of 3 years / Unlimited Mileage and 1,60,000 rupees for 4 years / Unlimited Mileage.

Japanese bike maker Yamaha has launched the much awaited Fazer 25 to its successful and popular FZ Series in the market. The bike is mounted with a newly designed air-cooled, 249 cc, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine on a lightweight frame. Yamaha says this is to realise the product concept of a powerful new mid class tourer.

The FZ 25 gives a maximum power output of 20.9 PS at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 20 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It offers new features including the LED headlight and an LCD instrument cluster. Yamaha says the bike offers it offers the nimbleness and easy-to-use character for daily use as well as long distance riding in a variety of usage scenes. The bike has been priced at Rs. 1.29 lakh ex-showroom.
