Blues take root this September

MusicBlues take root this September
“Every day,” sang the king of blues BB King, “I have the blues.” But us music lovers get the blues only occasionally, given how seldom it is that an international blues band comes to perform in India. This month, though, is a little different.
The serious listener of the soulful blues is in for a treat this September, with the French blues band Lil Red & The Roosters slated to gig in four different cities 24 September onwards.
Lil Red & The Roosters, a blues supergroup of sorts, comprises three super-talented individuals who are established musicians in their own right.
On vocals, there’s Jennifer Milligan; on the strings, the multi-award winning
guitarist Pascal Fouquet; and the indispensable blues harp is taken charge of by Thomas Troussier.
Together they are Lil Red & The Roosters, and they will be performing live as part of the fourth edition of Simply The Blues festival in Goa on 24 September, in Mumbai on 25 September, in Bangalore on 26 September, and in Delhi on 27 September.
“What’s unique about this band is that they connect the modern blues sound with its blues roots,” said the festival organiser Anil Mehta, founder of StarKonnect Events & Promotions.
