Former BJP ideologue K.N. Govindacharya is planning to reinvent himself by founding the “Save Democracy Front”, which, he hopes, will bring individuals such as, Arvind Kejriwal, Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare on the same platform. The front will bring together 50-60 individuals, groups and small parties that are working on their own to bring about a change in the political system. The first round table meeting of the front is likely to held in March “We are trying to galvanise the ‘pro-Bharat’ and pro-poor forces to form an alternative political group,” Govindacharya told The Sunday Guardian. “We have identified certain groups who are committed to alternative politics in the country.”

Govindacharya is a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak and currently the president of Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan. He was general secretary of the BJP till 2000. The veteran leader was also associated with the Jai Prakash Narayan (JP) movement. He has been maintaining a low profile for a long time.

Govindacharya said that he is in touch with Arvind Kejriwal, Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare: “There have been informal rounds of talks. We will send a formal invitation with the signatures of 10 persons to attend the round table meet after Republic Day.”

Govindacharya is also inviting Dr Jaiprakash (Lok Satta), Dr Subramanian Swamy (Janata Party) and Raju Shetti (Swabhimani Paksha) for the round table.

“We will come out with a vision document with a ‘pro-Bharat’ nationalist agenda, which will cover aspects like unconventional style of functioning of political parties, code of conduct for the activists and how democracy can be saved,” he said.
