‘Enough package provided for Flood relief’

News‘Enough package provided for Flood relief’

The Centre has told the Jammu and Kashmir High Court that the recent package of Rs 80,000 crore announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11 November has taken care of the rehabilitation work for the flood victims as well as rebuilding the infrastructure of the flood hit state.
Following this, the J&K High Court has asked the state government to file its response to the status report of the Central government on or before 15 December. The Central government has also appealed to the court to dispose of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against it for its alleged failure to provide relief to flood victims in the Kashmir valley.
Earlier, the state High Court while hearing the PIL had asked the Union government to make its stand clear on the relief package of Rs 40,000 crore sought by the state government in two week’s time.
In the PM’s package, Rs 5,200 crore has been earmarked for rebuilding damaged houses and for the permanent restoration of flood damaged infrastructure.
